At Hotel Austria in Obergurgl, the bar, fireplace lounge and restaurant areas have been completely reinterpreted. Building on the existing spatial and structural conditions, we developed a new architectural concept that brings openness, atmosphere and function together into a harmonious whole, giving the interiors a distinctive identity.

A clear architectural vision has evolved into a cohesive spatial landscape in which materials, proportions and light merge into a coherent overall experience. The newly designed bar, with its open fireplace lounge, forms the social heart of the hotel. The adjoining lounge, with its open layout and inviting, residential character, creates a place for gathering and lingering – inspired by the atmosphere of a private living room, yet reinterpreted for the unique hospitality of a hotel. The fine-dining restaurant complements the ensemble with quiet elegance and precisely curated materials, creating an atmospheric setting for an exceptional culinary experience at Michelin-star level.

Every area was rethought from the ground up. A clear architectural language, high-quality materials and carefully composed lighting scenarios shape the atmosphere, creating spaces with character and timeless quality. Architecture, interior design and function seamlessly come together, giving the hotel a distinctive identity.

The concept is complemented by works by local artist Alexander Maria Lohmann and artist Iris Kohlweiss. Their works form an integral part of the architectural concept, adding subtle accents that bring further depth and personality to the spaces.

Our special thanks go to the Steiner family for their trust and for having the courage to explore new paths together. The close and collaborative partnership was the foundation for a project that redefines the character of the hotel and brings architecture, interior design and hospitality together in a timeless whole.
